the Inn
History
Not many Alaskan inns have 20' cathedral ceilings, an indoor waterfall, 18 inch walls and attached greenhouse/atrium entrances. Despite the massiveness of the building, inside you'll find a warm welcome. Your hosts, Paul & Leicha Welton, have been welcoming guests to Fairbanks for 20 years.
Common Guest Areas
The Lounge
With white overstuffed sofas,
guests can peruse a collection of local restaurant menus, or check
e-mail on the guest computer workstation, or, well, just relax!
Community Dining Room
Ten long feet of dining room table to gather with friends, or make good use of the community kitchen.
Upper Room
A large meeting room which also doubles as the Breakfast room where guests are served a full breakfast. Great for small gatherings, retreats, and business meetings.
The rooms themselves all have
private Jacuzzi baths, cable TV/VCR/DVDs, wireless internet access
with full, gourmet breakfast included in the room rate. All the newly
constructed suites have full kitchens, stocked with pots and pans so
guests or business travelers can easily enjoy extended stays. In addition
to these many creature comforts, complimentary canoes are
available for guest use. On the boiler plate for soon-to-come improvements
are a tennis court for summer months that will be an ice skating rink
by winter and a sauna on the upper deck of the greenhouse.
Explore
Explore the meandering salmon river across the street in one of our complimentary canoes. If the fish aren't biting, you can stop at some of the finest restaurants in Fairbanks as you enjoy a progressive dinner, deck to deck and dock to dock under the midnight sun.
7 Gables Inn & Suites began as a fraternity house; it is within walking distance to the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The students left during the summer but the mortgage never left... thus a bed and breakfast was started to offset the summer vacancies. We quickly experienced a demand for a private bath in every room. This was met with a private Jacuzzi in most rooms and a fireplace in some rooms. Over the years, the inn has grown from the bedrooms in the main house to fully equipped suites with remote controlled fireplaces, and two person Jacuzzis at three nearby locations.
